Posters

Call for Posters at IDRC 2010!
Contributed Poster presentations have long been a highly-relevant, entertaining, and rewarding part of the IDRC experience. As all presentations at IDRC are not to be published, this is a great opportunity for you and your colleagues to present, discuss and debate your latest work with accomplished experts in the field, without public disclosure. Furthermore, IDRC presents several opportunities to highlight your work at the Conference, and several poster awards will be given!
At this time, it is planned that all posters will be on display in the Exhibition Hall throughout the duration of the Conference, to allow viewing during free afternoons and evenings. In addition, it is tentatively planned to allow rotation of posters into the foyer of the new Lecture Hall (link) for viewing during breaks in the invited oral sessions.

Technical Session Topics:
All posters covering subject matter that is related to diffuse reflectance spectroscopy are welcome! For guidance, the topics of the plenary technical sessions at IDRC2010 will be:

  • Physics of Diffuse Reflectance
  • Medical Diagnostics and Biology
  • Optics, Hardware and Sampling
  • Chemistry and Spectroscopy Fundamentals
  • Chemometrics: Rethinking Calibration
  • Process Analytical Technologies (PAT)
  • Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources

However, your work need not be directly related to any of these topics. In fact, work related to other sub-fields of diffuse reflectance spectroscopy are most welcome, as they could guide the identification of session topics at future IDRCs!

Poster Logistics:
Poster boards will be erected in the Exhibition Hall for the duration of the Conference, where posters can be thumb-tacked (no Velcro) to boards that will be provided. Posters will be made available for viewing during the afternoons and evenings. At a designated time (to be announced during the meeting), the presenter will be stationed at his or her poster for the purpose of discussing the poster's content.
A maximum display area of 120 cm x 120 cm will be made available for posters.
There are two additional presentation opportunities currently being considered (but not yet confirmed) for IDRC 2010:

  • A short "mini-presentation" of poster content at the beginning of one of the morning plenary sessions (8:00 to 8:30 AM), and/or
  • Temporary rotation of posters (based on subject matter) into the foyer of the new Science Center Auditorium, for viewing during the break in the oral session

Poster Awards!!:
Awards will be presented for two categories, best Senior Researcher poster and best Student poster, as determined by ballot of the Meeting's conferees. The number and amount of each award have not yet been determined, but it is expected that there will be at least two awards given for each category, with a first place award of at least $200.

Instructions for Presenters:
So that we may have an idea of the number of posters and their content, any conferee who is interested in displaying a poster is asked to notify the Poster Chairman (Dr. Clay Harris) of his or her intent by July 15, 2010. Include the following information: Title, authors, affiliations, category (senior or student), and a short (50-100 word) description of the research.

Thanks a lot for your interest in IDRC, and we look forward to showcasing your latest research!
